    Good catch there!

Wanted to see if you guys could help me with a few questions, any help appreciated!:

      1) I fed my new hives about 1 gallon of 1:1 sugar water when I put them in...should I continue feeding them when I check the hive next, or is the spring nectar flow enough to keep them well fed right now?

      2) How often do you break in and inspect your hives?

      3) Do you have any literature/printouts/charts that show the yearly nectar flow periods (and more specifically, for East Texas)?

      4) How bad are the mites/beetles in East Texas, and do you recommend using regular mite treatments at any specific times of the year? My hives are in full sun FYI

Nice. I’ve got 4 smaller swarm traps out so far. Need to refresh the lemongrass oil

My wife picked up three nuc's today for me while I went to work. I haven't caught any swarm yet.

I think my swarm traps are too small. I’ve got 4 out on my little property and no luck so far

I might need somebody to remove some here in Huntsville. They are right smack in the middle of my little farm where we spend alot of time. They showed up on Tuesday in a swarm and here it is Saturday afternoon.

How many swarms have yall seen come out of one hive? There was atleast 3 maybe 4 that came out of one of my hives, I looked into it and found 4 more Queen cells. That potentially is at least 7 swarms. I was able to catch 2 of those swarms and one from another hive. Been a good week for beekeeping.

Finding the queen is always a challenge for me

How many here mark their queens?

Any pearls for finding "Her Majesty?"

                            thanks,

                            bill

finding the queen can be hard, sometimes almost impossible. Brood frames with young larve and eggs most of the time is where you will find her, but some queens are runners and head for a dark corner.
