Port Aransas Deep Sea Guide Recommendation

I’ve been asked to plan/coordinate an offshore fishing trip for two good friends as a group birthday gathering and need help. There will be 8-9 of us going and I’m looking for a 12-24 hour private trip. Have any of y’all done a private trip and have a Captain you would recommend? I’m also thinking, if one of you has a boat and tackle that will accommodate 8-9 guys and wants to be the captain let me know and send me a PM. The trip must be out of Port Aransas and on Saturday April 4th.

Following.... I've looked into it myself, seems to depend on what you hope to catch. Yellow Fin is way out there.

we Have a church Father/Son group that goes every year with deep sea headquarters. We go during snapper season and LOAD UP. We limit on snapper in 45 minutes and then catch ling/kingfish etc. it’s a lot of fun with the kids. April isn’t snapper season but just letting you know that I think deep sea is a good operation.

After posting this, I looked into private charters and they are a bit out of the price range. So the option of a boat with 40 people will have to be considered..

Check out dolphin docks you can private charter one of their big boats for about 3k for a 9 hour trip just a touch over 300 a man and your not sharing the boat with 30 other folks.

The other issue with most private captains is that they have a USCG “6 pack” license meaning they can’t have more than 6 clients on the boat so your group of 9 would need two boats

300 per person is cheap, especially if they have the reels and bait. I dont know which boat DD uses for these charters but if the boat is big that is a huge plus. I was on a deal with a local guy on a 28' catamaran with twin 150's and it can get pretty small on a rough day. Get the patch and put it on 24 hours ahead of time. Good luck, its a blast out there.

Go with Dolphin Docks on the La Pesca. They recently brought in a 334# mako off a 9hr trip.
