Full moon and predator hunting.

Question, at night
A. Would you scan from the high rack on the truck with lights (what we usually do) so the lights can conceal you. Or,
B. Set out the fox pro with the decoy going and use thermals.

Anyone have better luck with one or the other?

Either one will work well. I gotta say though if you have thermal that's the way to go. If it's a full moon though venture out away from the truck. They can see at night ( as you know. ) I wouldn't worry too much about using a decoy unless you just want to. I know a lot of guys use them but I've seen coyotes lock up after seeing that movement.

I've had lousy luck on full moon nights.

We use both when we go to Texas and shoot hogs and predators. If you set up just like you would during the day using thermal you'll kill coyotes. I think any other critter you could call in from the high rack using thermal. Bobcats and raccoons I know for sure you can.

Yeah got a tournament we’re going to do on a full moon night. Most contest don’t allow thermals but this one does and we never really had to think about it before. Probably do what we would usually do on a day time stands.
Property hasn’t been called in a few years so maybe we’ll have some dumb dogs and be able to stay in the truck. We’ll see???

It's worth a try. If you have some spots that are in pretty thick cover that's where I'd set up and get the call out away from the truck. The less time they have to stop and look around and get suspicious the better I think that would work. Plus I think they'd be more likely to stop close to cover to look around where they feel like they're hidden and somewhat safe long enough to get a shot. I'm not real sure though.
