Does that include all the licenses that are hung under those main license holders? My understanding is that a license holder can have 5 or 10 other licensees under them that can also go out and catch or gig increased limits.

Allow 2 flounder with rod and reel during the run. Why does it have to all or none?

They eat everything.. I NEVER see baby crabs while wading anymore either.. I hardly ever catch baby flounder while cast netting like we did in the past.. Redish feed primarily on the bottom, where the baby flouder hide.. Redfish eat everything. I think the huge decline in the croaker population is because of the redfish also.. The redfish numbers have thrown the entire system out of kilter..
I've never heard that, but it makes perfect sense. Back in the 80s if you had a couple red's it was a bonus now they are everywhere. Kinda like our hog problem.

          I'm not for or against.
I will say I think that way of viewing it is flawed. It's not all nor is it nothing. It's closing the available harvest time during a period when the fish are vulnerable.
The same reason noodling for catfish has been so severely restricted or eliminated in most states.
I don't doubt the other things listed as being detrimental to the species and restricting fishing takes during the spawn probably isn't the only action that could have a positive impact. However a few weeks of not being able to keep fish would be a small price to pay if it had a positive effect on overall populations and improved fishing the other 44 weeks of the year.

Negative. The commercial limit is for the boat a day. No point guiding a trip under you commercial license, you are cutting Your revenue in half.

I've heard this was the best flounder run in Galveston in years...

The recreational fisherman with rod and reel, I feel is not doing much damage if any notable, to flounder populations in Texas. Applying Limits are good! All participants must contribute. Let the good guys (Biologists ) Make recommendations. By catch loss by commercial operations has greatly improved. I think we will catch plenty of the sportsman rod and reel flounder in the future and be able to gig a few as well due to efforts being made.

I totally agree! They have run amuck with public trust when it comes to the facts vs. proposed regulations.

We may have too many redfish today, but all it takes is one hard freeze and we'll loose half of them.

I wish they would take 2 inches off the Redfish Slot and put it in the bottom. 18 to 26 would be perfect, and bump it up to 5 fish.

Those big reds definitely aren't good to eat.
