Does that mean that shark numbers are on their way back up or does that meanthat there are more people in the water to get bitten? I think its about like everything shark bites are just more public these days. People should always take caution when playing in the surf or even wade fishing in the bay, sharks are always present.

The chart for # of swimmers per decade probably looks about the same.

Mostly more human targets for the sharks. There has been an increase in the population of nearshore sharks like blacktips and bull sharks due to the decrease in their main predators, large sharks, like tigers.

We see them everytime we go spearfishing, never had any close calls. Usually just bump them with the spear tip and they will leave you alone. Last year during Hell Divers rodeo we saw thousands of sharks in 3 days. We even swam with a school of 8-10 foot hammerheads. The small sharks are usually the ones you have to watch out for

My girlfriend's mom knows someone that works for Parks and Wildlife or does research down around Port Aransas. They fly in helicopters and do observations and surveys and stuff, and he said that if people knew how big the sharks are that swim around the 3rd gut nobody would ever go swimming in the ocean.

Jeff you always seem to be talking about sharks. I think you have taking a liking to them. Maybe next time we go to Chambers I can bring my shark mount and some pet spiders for your bed.
