    how to get speedometer recalibrated?

So my boys are 16 and driving the truck too - I've always known the speedo is off by 5 mph due to oversize tires - really bugs my son Nathan! How do I remedy this? Thanx!

Tell him to subtract 5 mph....and deal with it.

Tranny shop should fix it or programmer.

Im not sure but have the same issue with my 2015 f-150. I asked the ford dealership and they told me that there is nothing they can do.

You may want to take it by an off road shop and see if they have the equipment to re-calibrate it. I know the off road shop here in Victoria does it and advertise that they do it when installing bigger tires and lifts.

I got a programmer when we lifted and added larger tires.

The stealership will do it for way more than its worth.

And FWIW, it's not off my 5 mph, it's off by a % so off more the faster you go.

I just called my local lift/tire/wheel shop about this same issue this morning. They directed me to the rough country website to buy a unit that does this for my truck. Cost of the unit was $139. Hope this helps.

`Seems cheaper to buy a GPS to set on the dash. Watch the speed on that, just unplug and put under the seat when you get out of the truck. Tire vary so much from lot to lot, there is not to much of a way the keep the speedometer correct all the time. I know my GPS is giving me an accurate reading.

It is my understanding that tires will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, lot to lot even in the same manufacturer and definitely as the tires wear. Seems to me like it would be difficult to match the original speedometer setting with fresh OEM tires.

I have a programmer and its proven invaluable.....tire size can be easily adjusted.

Can I borrow it when you’re done?

I have the same issue with mine. I might have been asked to slow down going through Dripping Springs this weekend...

I bought the Rough Country programmer for my 2016 F150. Worked great for less than $150.

I have a Superchips Flashcal. Just put in the diameter of the tires and you're good. Use a GPS app on my phone to make sure they're calibrated.
