Txjourneyman trip 1 of 2 in the books! One for the record books!

Back a couple months ago when I put up a trip to help Greg along with several other folks I had no idea it would turn into what it did but I figured maybe I could offer a fishing trip and be more help than sending a gift card for some gas or something and I sure wasn't prepared for the generosity of TBH folks. At the rate that trip went at I hated for anybody to not get it and they both graciously agreed to trips! Travis wanted to take his son Laken and his dad and catch big crappie! Winter and early spring is the best time for this. We tried a few times to get together but the dates didn't work out, but the stars lined up yesterday and they had one of the best if not best trips I've ever had! Winter time is trade off on numbers for big fish or at least how I fish it is but the size sure makes up for the lack of number! The first hour or so was pretty terrible in my book with fish spooking and my transducer for the Livescope giving me fits! We got all that figured out and man upstairs threw in a little extra I'm sure and these folks went on a big fish tear! From 930-130 if was a big fish party!

I had 17.04 on my scale and it weights light. We gain a pound on certified tournament scales with anything over 13 pounds. Our cull fish was a 2.33 black I believe and the biggest on my scale was a 2.73. Laken had that one and Travis and his dad both had 2.55s on my scale. That little dude was a trip! He slung fish in the boat all day. He's a heck of a stick and picked the Livescope up quick! The marina was closed when we loaded up to get better weights on their scale but the lady came by on the golf cart and ran him up there to weight his fish while we were cleaning them and after several hours out of the water it was 2.95 on their scale. That would put this trip with 7 crappie somewhere in the low 18 pound range! I've had 16 several times and 17 pounds that I can recall but I can't recall an 18 pound stringer. I don't bass fish but 18 pounds on crappie is probably similar to a 40lbs 5 fish stringer if I had to guess! Man God is good!!

I've got the next 2 weekends open right now them I'm gonna be in full tournament mode for a while if me and momma come to terms on a couple of them! If anybody wants to go chase some giant crappie or learn Livescope better give me a shout! I don't have Tapatalk on the new phone so I will see if I can get somebody else to attach a pic!

Thanks again Travis and TBH for the generosity!

Helluva trip Slew. You’re a good man as are the 2 gentlemen that bought the trips.

Slew, thank you for what you did for Greg. I know for a fact , he was at a loss for words for the kindness that was bestowed on him.

I need to check in on him.
