Axis Deer in San Saba

The boys & I went to the lease to fill feeders for hunting hogs after the season.

We were just outside of San Saba, right at the city limit sign on 1031 going S.E. from town when we saw a group of Axis deer about 30 yards from the road. This was on a low fence property. One was a small buck in velvet.

We saw them on the way out in the same general area. That is neat that they are in the area. I never thought there would be Axis out there.

Shame though... we decided not to re-new the lease for next year.
Now we gotta go back and pick up all of our toys. I love going after Axis deer. Hopefully I'll find a place that has them.

Well did yall harvest any animals?

Naw... we just filled the feeders and left so we could watch the super bowl.

Course I did manage to high center my truck in the mud and cost us about 3 hours in the process.


I did manage to put some solar lights on my feeder. Going up there next weekend to stick a pig or 3... if I can stay awake.

But we do plan on going this weekend to go after the piggies.

The Axis were only a few miles from the lease... maybe they migrated that far by now ... one can only hope.
