Nilgai failure

I bought some partitions for a Nilgai hunt and figured I would try them out on deer first. I hate those bullets, I had to track both deer I shot with them. Went back to the cheapo core-lokts and started dropping deer where they stand again. So now I have 3 boxes of $40 bullets I can't stand. The guide says I need to use them and I haven't went on the hunt yet soooooo

What caliber? Partitions are my favorite all around bullet. I've used on elk, deer, hogs, antelope. I've never had anything run much if hit in lungs/heart area. The most is probably 50 yards and all exited with good blood trails.

.308 I swapped to those after sighting it in with them. Shot two deer with them and the first one I had to track about 200yds after a double lung hit. I swapped back and shot an Axis buck and 2 whitetail with the core-lokts and they dropped in their tracks with same bullet placement
