I just got a arrma bigrock bc I had a friend get one and got to play with it. This stuff is stupid fun and super addictive. In a matter of 2 month I've since gotten a traxxas maxx 4s, an arrma vorteks 3s, an arrma kraton 6s and I have an dhk maximus 4s and traxxas xmaxx 8s on order.
If you don't like wrenching from time to time it's not a hobby to get into but I do some really stupid crap with mine. Launch some of them 30 ft. I'm sure more restrained driving would lead to less breakage.
The traxxas seems to be the most durable so far and also has the cheapest parts.
My boy and girl both enjoy it. It's a great way to burn 30 min an evening outside with the kids. Living on a fairly big place in a rural setting gives us plenty of opportunities to play.
