Yes, I do make a lot of compost. Key to good plants is good soil!!

Horse manure and bedding and tree chippings mixed together and turned often. Takes a good bit of time before its ready.

Thank you for the info. I am trying to get some horse manure and have been colletcing all the leaves & grass clippings I can. Hoping to have a mini pile for next year. How long before the decomposing process happens and you can use it in the garden??

How often do you turn it?

Should turn it about ever 6 weeks but it doesn't happen that way. What i'm using now is probably at least 2 years old but it should be ready sooner if turned often.

Leaves are very good and grass clippings, you can see in the pictures I mulch a lot of the plants with leaves. it keeps down the weeds and holds the moisture and is good to till into soil when finished.

High tunnel house. On my wishlist one of these days. I would love to get a jump on plants starting in January/February.

Maybe a bluejay too. They know there is a seed at the end of the plant

FINALLY got my wife a small plot rowed up this afternoon!!! She will start planting tomorrow after church. Latest we’ve ever planted but first time it’s been dry enough to work the garden without sticking the tractor.
