    Storing Shoulder Mounts?

Well after a long bachelor life of hunting whenever I wanted, mounting whatever I wanted, and hanging them wherever I wanted I have to make some changes. With a wife that "limits" what I am able to hang in the house, and two kids that take up every spare inch of climate controlled space in our house, it is time to buy a new house or find a way to store 5 or 6 shoulder mounts. I figured storing would be much easier on the bank account.

Can they safely be stored in the attic without ruining them? Some are still in really good shape, others are getting to be 20+ years old and already showing some signs of age. What are my options? Anything special I can do with them until I get a suitable place to hang them? We intend to find something bigger in the next 5-10 years, but that is a long time.

would not advise putting them in the attic

they need a climate controlled area, high heat is bad for them

    also need insect protection

you could loan em to a sporting goods store to display

I thought about the sporting goods store or lodge option, but I think there are only 2 or 3 that they would want for that. Plus I don't know anyone I trust enough to keep them.

Maybe ask the taxidermist who mounted them if they have room to hang in their shop. We had a huge bull elk that was used at various banquets that we had no room for so our taxi kept it in his shop til he retired. Now it sits covered in our basement.

I just take more of my wife's stuff off of the wall with every new mount. I'm up to 8 in the living room now and will have 2 more to hang later in the summer I don't ask and she gets over it lol.

...but to answer your question, DON'T put them in your attic if you want them to stay in good shape. As other said, they need climate controlled space.

they need to be in a humidity controlled sitting preferably with no direct sunlight.

I had a wife like that once. She now goes by EX-WIFE !

Man that sucks, my wife knew what she was getting into when we got married. Got lotta of dead hangers in the house.

They need to be stored in a climate controlled area with some sort of big inhibitor or your trophies will be destroyed.

You need to train your wife better. LOL

I would not put them in the attic, they will get ruined. Build a storage shed, insulate it, plywood the walls, AC/heat it, and put them in there. Make yourself a mancave.
