You said "Complacency is part of my problem, and over confidence in my climbing." I think many of us can relate to that statement. In my younger years I paid little heed to tree stand safety measures because "I was a confident climber". I eventually had a really scary close call but due to pure luck I walked away unscathed. (Now I've been known to trip and fall down getting out of a pop-up)

I hope your recovery goes exceptionally well.....however, it could have been MUCH worse.... my best friend of over 40 years was killed falling from his stand..... professional golfer acquaintance was paralyzed.....majority of the reason I grounded myself.

I do hope everything turns out well! That's a heckuva fall and a ton of trauma. Hang in there....👍

First off I'm glad those were your only injuries and prayers for recovery. I had a similar experience but I fell asleep coon hunting late one night and fell from my tree stand. Luckily I wasn't seriously hurt but I did visit a chiropractor daily for 2 months+ for treatment. The fall knocked me out for over an hour and when I came too I was sure I was paralyzed. Luckily a few months of pain was all I really suffered. Stupid part on my end was I had bought a safety harness the day before and it was in my truck when I fell. I no longer hunt without a climbing rope and safety harness.

Prayers for your recovery! That could have been (and I’ve seen) a whole lot worse. I’ve had (as a nurse) 3 tree stand falls this year...

Prayers for your recovery. I won't leave the ground unattached to the tree these days. I had a scare of my own years ago in a climber. There's no deer worth a fall.
