    Integrally suppressed rifles?

    Anyone bought a rifle that is integrally suppressed? I shot one many years ago. I don't remember much about it other than it was really quiet and the guy whom owned it said he had to have some kind of license like a gun broker or something to own it.

    1. Are they quieter than a can?

    2. Do you have to have any kind of special license to own one? Or is it just like owning a can?

    3. Companies that you have used to purchase them. I found txsilencers.net
    I am sure their are others.

    Same paperwork process as a can, i've shot an integrally supressed 10/22 and it was AWESOME!

    You might have to have two tax stamps if the barrel comes out under 16" though, one for the can and an SBR stamp

      I have a .44 mag ruger from SRT.
      Just 1 tax stamp. it is quite and hits hard with 280 grain bullet loaded to 1050 fps.

      After I sold my farm, I really have no use for it but it is too much trouble to try to sell.

        If going through all the trouble to get one, I would much prefer to have a can to put on different guns.

          I already have one that I can put on different rifles.

          Looking at the dark horse website and for a new rifle with one built in it wasn't that bad.

          I'm interested because of the over all length of the complete gun with it built in.

          Like my avatar picture. It's almost taller than my grandson!

            I’ve shot the Dark Horse rifles quite a bit back in the day. The main hangup for me at the time was they refused to thread the barrel with anything faster than a 12” twist at the time for a 308. 12 twist sucks for subsonic heavies. The rifles shot well, and no complaints on the can though.

              Yeah I understand that. I cut my 22-250 barrel for just that reason. It was crazy long, 32". It is still 24" with the can after I cut it, but at least doable in a blind now. You probably know, but just fyi, they make some short barrel with a permanent built on " shroud" to keep it legal. Remove the fake can, and replace with your real one.

              Integrally suppressed has its own cool factor though!

                My taxi has a Ruger model 77 in .44 mag that’s integrally suppressed. I shot it once into a pile of dirt at about 50 yards. The sound of the impact was louder than the rifle with his subsonic handloads. It would make a really good short range hog rifle except for the sound of loading the next round.

                  I have shot the Dark Horse, used to be John's Gun, in a Ruger Mark 3 or 4 integral and also in .44. Both were impressive on how quiet so I bought the 77/44 and a 10/22. Hopefully will be in next month. You buy direct from them. They do all the fingerprints and tax stamp paperwork for you. You need to have your trust already complete.
