    How about now?

A 13-year-old Oklahoma girl visiting Mexico with her family was killed Saturday night in an ambush just south of Texas, according to the attorney general's office in the state of Tamaulipas.

    Still safe to go?

The odds are most likely in your favor but it just depends on how much risk you are willing to take. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would rate the risk at a 6 but that is just my opinion with no hard evidence to back it up. Would I go down there now...No but that is just me.

Best of luck if you go but keep your head on a swivel and ask yourself if the reward of travel is worth the risk.

treacherous journey they decided taking...if you look at crossing Falcon Heights & follow the action, it's a gamble.

I think this is the area where the US government has declared it a dangerous area and doesn't recommend travel.

I don't go to mexico, but people are killed in the US daily. I have traveled extensively (in many no so great places) and what is posted by news agencies is always way sensationalized. don't just automatically think it is as bad as they make it sound. I lived in Cairo in the early 90's, they were finding some bombs on tourist buses, and as I was watching CNN sitting on my couch in Cairo, it sounded like it was a horrible place to go, but I never felt unsafe. But just like the US, there are places in every city it is just better not to go
