Mountain Lion versus boar hog

It all depends on the size of the pig and also the size of the Mt lion. Also if the pig is a single or if it is in a group.
One of the main animals on a Mt lions menu is the Javalina, after saying that, if the cat wants to eat Collared Peccary, then he is a lot more likely to have success if he hunts a lone animal.
Often times a group of Javelina's will actually band together and fight off a preditor that is trying to make a meal out of one of them.
If the pig runs, then more than likely he is done for, as long as he is small enough for the Mt lion to catch and kill, by biting the windpipe, essencially cutting off all air.( suffocating the swine)
If you are talking about a 250 to 400 lb boar, then I would say it would be very unlikely that an average adult mt lion could handle killing such a large pig. The size and strength alone would probably overwelm the cat!Last edited by Flint knapper; 03-04-2009, 04:44 PM.

I seriously doubt that a Mt. Lion could take a LARGE BOAR! I mean a cat swinging his paws cant be as bad as a 300 magnum shell and I know that a BOAR can take one of them in the shield and live!! I think a Boar is LOTS stronger than the cat and he could defend himself enough to run the cat off.

I still say ther is no way a Texas cat can take a 300 pound boar hog, the cats that I have seen ( pictures ) look to be about 110-130 pounds. I know when you run a hog for miles with a pack of dogs he is pretty much done but a cat cannot do that. Come on Wild America and Marty Stouffer, lets see what might happen.
