Hard to spend $1400 for a Colt 357mag when can get a nice Ruger for $600 less.

I'm hoping for the Pythons to also chamber 41 & 44 mag.

Colt has been ramping up to this release for a few years now. Starting with the cobra in multiple versions, then the king cobra too. Yesterday i watched an interview with a Colt spokesperson and he said there are multiple improvements from the original python.. better steel, beefed up in certain areas, replaceable front sight and he left the trigger for last.. said the trigger mechanism was redesigned reducing the moving parts from 14 to 8.. He didn't say it was better than the original but said the trigger pull and action is very impressive. They've already shipped thousands to Colt preferred dealerships.

Personally i have a 6" 1968 python that's an amazing pistol and if i bought the 4".. id shoot the heck out of it!

These new Pythons are $1500 MAP & will be worth $1k after you get it home...no different than comparing a post 64 winchester to a pre 64. They will not get gobbled up & bet anyone interested will see them on shelves at any time once production is in full swing.

I hope it's successful for Colt as I would really like to see them get it back together.
I been around Colt revolvers a long time, never have seen one lose value no matter what generation it is. I will have to disagree with you about that 5000.00 price I just bought a 1994 NIB Python for 2800.00. I could have bought a Boa for 7000.00 though and they sold for 500.00 when they come out.

I am also quite sure if you pay 1500.00 for a new generation Python it will not lose 500.00 by the time you get it home. Unless you shoot it or intentionally take the loss. Colt has re made the 1911 so many ways and certain models are never seen by the general public because they are bought up by collectors. Case in point, Colt 1911 Dragon series. How many of you seen?

I had reservations about posting on here to begin with, and I certainly never said a word about any Pre 64 Winchester.

The EL series 1911 does very well along with the Dragon...these are limited production with a strong following which drives pricing. The Python is not & I simply do not agree these new Pythons will follow your theory of climbing in value. I just transferred a new model King Cobra LNIB that my guy paid $650. I do think all the original snake series will continue to climb.

We don't have to agree & no reason to be hesitant. I'll be happy to re-visit this thread in 6-12 months to see how the Market reacts but My guess is the masses won't bite & don't see the re-intro having the same following.

Shot the new King Cobra yesterday and it performed beautifully. Very accurate a it has a great trigger pull. I’m going to wait on the python until it comes out in a blued finish.

I bought a Colt Anaconda when I was 16. Stainless, 6inch barrel. I'm 44 now, and still have the gun. It's a safe queen, but I do take it out and fondle it on occasion. Pretty pistols

Apparently colt is doing a “quiet” recall on a lot of guns because of cylinders locking up and light primer strikes.

Took an old friend out to Odessa yesterday to the gun show to meet another Colt collector. My friend bought 4 consecutive serial numbered Colt gold cups in 38 super. I seen one of the new pythons there and it was marked up to 2000.00 from a dealer out of Beeville. I seen a few on gun broker for 1875.00, I guess I mentioned in an earlier thread they would get marked up but was told I was wrong. After reading reviews of the new pythons , they have failure to fire problems with light primer strikes.

I seen a Used Colt blued Python built in 1974 with the box for 1800.00, which was a good deal I thought. It was probably 85-90 percent of new.
