    Free Range Axis

My second Axis buck taken off our place near Sheffield in Pecos County in two years. Watched a group of twelve decimate the corn at my feeder and he came in abit late to the party. He never left.

Was on a hard line to the feeder but then decided to head away from me. Gave me very little to shoot as he was walking away. Hit him behind his ribs and the 6.5 CM Accubond never exited and was dug into his right front shoulder. Went 25yds before piling up. Measured 28.5" but is my biggest Axis to date. Had my son with me who happened to be trying his hand out at bow hunting with his new present he got for XMas. Couldn't be happier!

Good job! Kill all of them or keep them up near you. We hunt between Sheffield and Pumpville and don't need those on the lease. I can kill enough of them at home!

Congrats, I would love to shoot an axis. One of the most beautiful animals IMO.

Love axis. We have them free range on our place in Real County as well. Actually outnumber the white tails. Beautiful animals, make great mounts, rugs, pillows, and the best table fare on the hoof Texas has to offer IMO

Yeah, they've run off all our mature deer. Landowner doesn't want us shooting them. Talked him into at least shooting a few of the older bucks.
