Looking for info on fishing kayaks. New at kayak fishing but looks like something I would like to try. I would most likely stick to river fishing. I was told best to stay with 10 footer. Any info would be helpfull thanks in advance. I should also say I am no longer a kid so if that matters in what I get let me know thanks.

Find a kayak shop near you and let them know what you are wanting to do most kayak shops you can rent one and try it out. -

I’ve been kayak fishing for over 12 years now as to how often , we’ll I kayaked over 340 miles on last year’s total. I have had 6 kayaks over the years , my personal advice would be nothing smaller than 12 foot . Reason being with a 10 footer you will close to hitting the kayak weight capacity after you and your gear are loaded . Now let’s say you catch a few cats and one of them is a big one . You will have a heck of time trying to keep that all balanced. Another thing to think about it the tracking 10 foot kayaks suck when it comes to tracking . Who told you 10'?
Put me in the 12' minimum category. A buddy of mine is getting a 10' yet he's always rented 12' or better. I've told him he's not going to be happy.Comment
