    Brake Pads

I had my brakes re-done 8/26/16 and they are already starting grind on the fronts. Seems like the pads should have lasted longer than that. I had Brake to go do the work and I was pleased with the service and price. Going to let them do them again but I am going to supply the pads as I think they didn't use very good ones. 2010 Ford 150 4x4. What pads do you guys use/recommend. TIA

How many miles in three years? If its stop and go driving they wear a lot faster than HY miles. They may use the cheapest pads so you have to come back .Some places won't put on parts that you bring them because they mark up the price of the parts also
The best pads aren't that much higher than the cheap ones. I do my own and get the best pads from auto parts store. If the pads are completely worn out you will most likely have to have the rotors turned or replaces

Depends on the pads but stockers lasted 90k then had next pair go 50k. Lots of pad left just caked up and screeching got annoying so replaced the fronts

Not sure how many miles I would say though it is probably 60% highway and 40% stop and go. Not sure if they will install the pads I buy but I am going to get some. The last time they put all new rotors on the truck so maybe I won't need new ones but just trurn the ones I have. I guess I did pull a trailer more due to being on a lease and having to bring my Ranger home so I know that will wear brakes.

Get the good quality ceramic pads, I just did the factory pads on my wifes tahoe at 120k miles, with new ceramics. Should be good until we decide to trade it in.

If you are already buying the pads why not do it yourself? Would save you whatever the shop charges. Should only take 30-45 min. A couple wrenches, a large C-clamp, and a short piece of 2x4 and you're in business.

*Disclaimer* I'm not a mechanic, but that has worked for me for the last couple decades.

Bought the best pads made from ORileys made for pick up trucks. Do your homework and research what’s on the market for your budget. As mentioned it’s all in the type of driving and how drive. Be sure and have your rotors turned or replaced

Used to do them myself all the time, and would do it again if I could. I had a stroke about 4 years ago and never gained 100% strength in my left side. If I had some one to pull the wheels off I could manage it. I will just work a little extra to pay for to have it done. I am having Brakes to go to do them again. I told them I would supply my own pads because I didn't think the pads they supplied lasted long enough. They said due to insurance and liability issues they won't install customer supplied parts. He said they will install ceramic pads and said they are the best ones they can get. They looked up my old invoice had 107,000 + miles on my vehicle now I have 170,000 + so I got about 63,000 miles out of the pads. Guess that is not that bad.
