Rock Springs guys - need insight

Possibly looking at getting on a place that’s 4,000 acres with some axis on it, east of rock springs. It seems like a pretty sweet deal but I’m almost positive I saw a thread on here about that area being hit hard by Anthrax. How bad was the anthrax? Is it worth looking into right now?

I would for sure 100% see the property in person and want to see some pictures from last year, before I committed to anything in that area. There were some areas that missed the anthrax.

Good luck! Hope it works out.

East of Rocksprings you should be clear, but like said above, definitely go look at it. And make sure you see animals. I’m west of town, north of 55 about 10 miles before 277 and no anthrax. From folks I’ve talked to in the area the anthrax was west of 277.

I don’t think Anthrax made it east of Rocksprings. I’m 15 miles due north of town and we didn’t have any Anthrax.

Thanks for the responses! I’ll definitely be giving the place a visit once I can.

We are 16 miles before Rocksprings of HWY 41. No anthrax but check out the area. Some spots are easy to hunt(fairly flat) and other are all gully’s and thick with cedar. Lots of different animals roaming around out here though. Been here 28 years

They sent some photos of this place and they seem to take some nice bucks and have a couple herds of free range axis, and the occasional black buck.

Our little place is east of Rocksprings, about 10 miles north of 41 of Hackberry Rd.

                Knock on wood, no anthrax.

anthrax rarely makes it east of 277 except for a few places in Kinney county and along the county line with Edwards county. I don't believe there has been any cases documented or not east of 55.

oh and by the way, there are no deer in RS. Just pigs and raccoons

That area wasn’t affected. East of Rocksprings is some of my favorite area to hunt.

Haha if the place has an excessive amount of spots open I’ll let tbh know if the LO is cool with it!

You should be safe. We got hit hard East of 277 @ 55. It stretched East along 55 for at least 10 miles. I know of several groups leaving the area so openings will be prevalent.

Where exactly are you at that you got hit hard east of 277? We are off 55 between the A&M AgriLife ranch and Canyon Ranch. No sign of anthrax on our place.
