Still some good people out there. Santa Fe Plumber

    Sorry for the long read.
I live out of state and my parents are in their 70’s and 80’s and neither get around like they used to.
Seems every day you hear something about crooked contractors, someone cheating someone, or something similar. Occasionally here on TBH you will hear about what good members we have here and the good they do and that makes you feel better. This person is not a member, as far as I know, but he really restored my faith that there are good people out there.

Sunday, mom had problems with her hot water. “Could not get enough hot water.” Back in the day it would be something Dad would have dealt with, but those days are long past. One of my sisters came over but could not figure anything out. Several years ago, while helping dad with a project, we had to call a plumber when we hit something we couldn’t fix by the time I have to leave town. He did a good job and was reasonable and I told mom to keep his card in case something ever came up again. I told Mom to dig his card out and give him a call.

Mom called him Monday morning and he arrived in short order. He checked out the water heater and did not find anything obvious. For some reason there was low water pressure. Long story short, (I know, that boat has sailed) in the course of investigating, he discovered that someone (we don’t know who) had turned on a valve outside to the line that fed dads’ shop. That line had been turned off for years because dad never used the water out there, it was capped. Over the years, that line was busted and when someone turned that water, on it was leaking and resulted in the low water pressure. He turned the valve off and problem solved!

He spent over an hour there going through everything and at any point could have made something up to have a major project and run up a big bill. What happened next is what is remarkable. He told mom “no charge.” He refused payment for coming out, or the time spent.
If anyone in the Santa Fe Texas area ever needs a plumber, please give Earl Hampshire of Hampshire Plumbing a call and give him your business. This is the kind of company that deserves many kudos!

Might be a good letter to send to the newspaper in Santa Fe and let them know what a great company is located in their community. They might want to do a human interest story on it.
