None of these cost more than $200
I'd say you over paid, even 14 years ago.
At $275, today, you're still over paying.

        Spoiled TN Boy,

Any chance you have any pics of your taxi's cat work?
Or have they been posted here already?

I would love to learn how, just to do some mounts for me and my family. Not a business thing. What would be the best way to learn? Online? Videos?

There are some good vids and books out there. Just search the supply companies. I did that many years ago. Did about 15 shoulder mounts for friends and family and to this day still have not done one for myself.

Hands on is best, working under a GOOD taxidermist, but it will be hard to convince one to mentor you.

Videos are second best, but there's no one to answer your questions.

This year is my first season as a taxidermist. I get 100% from the VA so I have that for my regular Bill's, anything made from taxidermy work is extra. With that being said, I use facebook, Instagram, and face to face with business cards for marketing. It has been super hard to get business. I only have 6 jobs so far this season. We dont make enough to put my 2 year old in day care so I stay at home to take care of him, so working in a shop for someone else is out of the question. I just do all of my work at home. As soon as I can get more business I plan on getting a website, they aren't cheap and I'm a technological idiot so i ain't making one. The point is it's tough.
