    Ravin Crossbows

What sets them apart hunting wise from other 400fps crossbows? Hypothetically aren't all crossbows that are of the same velocity capable of the same things? Does this crossbow actually increase your effective hunting range if you do your part? Just wondering if they are that good or if there may be some cheerleading going on.Anybody with actual experience?

I bought my wife a Tenpoint Stealth NXT this past August that is almost as narrow as the Ravin and shoots 385 fps. It is definitely a flat shooter and very accurate. While I'm sure it can shoot well out to 100 yards (As The Ravin is "Marketed"), I think its foolish and irresponsible to attempt a kill on an animal at that distance. Theres just too many variables that affect arrow/bolt POI at that distance, not to mention the animal moving.

Don't own one, but, shot one.....a 10 or 20, can't remember.....thing really did feel like shooting a rifle....pretty cool crossbow.

However, I've got a modified centerpoint and I sure didn't see/feel $1k to $2k worth of difference.... the latest, 29 I THINK, is well over $2k

Size. The newest model right now is like 16 or 18 inches long and like 6-8 inches wide when drawn. Also the marketed point of being accurate at 100 yards. They’re not bad but they are loud as helll. Don’t own one bit have shot them

Don't think for a minute that a deer cannot jump the string on a long shot from a crossbow.

Yessir,I agree that things can happen. Its just hard to buy in to the hype that suddenly you are effective out to 100 yards.
