Not a big deal, they have been using that needle style for a long time. I am shocked that some of you have never seen one, they been around forever. Here is the tool you need that adapts to a standard grease gun.

15k, that's crazy! Exactly the reason I do all mine myself. I think radar is on to the right tool. Put me in the boat of never seen it before.

I would rather use a needle than a conventional fitting. Even on regular zerks I use my needle.

I actually have a grease needle but like I said even with a fitting I could lock onto I wasn't able to get the grease all the way to all four points with much more pressure

The needle adapter you have should work fine.

If you were not able to put more grease in it, you may need to take a small piece of steel wire and push the ball in a couple times and try again. The little ball on the fitting can become stuck and may need a little help. I am not sure of the u joint clearance you have, there may be no way to swap out the needle style to the castle type zerk.
