My nephew shot a buck we’d been watching for a few years, he’s known to be 6+. While they were unloading at the processor an older guy walked up, looked at the wrinkles on his ears and said “3 years old”. We all looked at him like he was crazy, and he told us how it has been proven to be accurate. We told him how we’ve been watching the buck for 3 years and he wasn’t a baby when we first saw him. But he wouldn’t budge, said he’s a three year old!

he reached over, grabbed one of the buck’s ears, and kind of pulled it up at about the alert angle, then rotated it over towards the antler base, which created 3 wrinkles in the loose skin at the base of the ear there...then he said “Yep, three years old”.

Just when you think you've heard it all lmao. The guy was like you said pulling your leg, if he wasn't then, well, you know.......

Hilarious. This reminds me of a guy on our place that must have a magic finger because he can stick that finger in the mouth of a deer and tell you his exact age.

You should never shoot one with less than 4 creases....that's just good management
