I’ve heard good things about the Walmart Maxx batteries, so I’m giving them a go. They are made by Johnson Controls, and have a 2 year warranty.

IMO, I would replace all three, so they are all on the same level. The two new ones will have to carry more of the load for the third one, and wear them down faster.

When I used to fish a lot more and fish some local tournaments it was important to me to not get stuck with battery problems. I would use cheaper batteries and replace them every other year even though the were still working fine. It was nice to schedule when I had to do the work instead of doing it in a parking lot at 4:00 am by flashlight or something since battery problems always happen at the worst time. Plus I never had batteries go out that way. I still spent less on batteries than a lot of guys running expensive batteries.

It was cheap insurance and worked for me.

Replace all 3 with 31s. Walmart batteries are just fine and have a good warranty. And you can always find a Walmart to swap them out should you need to use the warranty.

That's the same thing I do. I've had my first battery for going on 5 seasons now. Used it as a trolling and starting battery on my 25hp with a 55lb troller, plus electronics when I got it. Got another from them for a starting battery/electronics 3 years ago. Just hard to beat a good wet cell and price point.

Man I appreciate it guys. Lots of options. I’m gonna do two now and the cranking and last trolling beginning of January. Didn’t realize Duracell had large batteries like this.

The truth about batteries is Johnson Controls makes most car type batteries and badges them for different retailers. Most of them are basically the same battery.
Other Mfgrs are East Penn and Deka and they may even be the same company.
Once the last lead smelter was closed down in US battery manufacturing has pretty much moved out of USA. We can thank the tree huggers for that. However the quality is as good or better now than ever. Optima, Interstate, DieHard etc are made by Johnson. So are Walmart batteries, PepBoys, AutoZone, etc etc. Pick one. It's a crap shoot anyway.

I traded 3 1-2 year old dead optimas for 3 academy batteries. That was almost 4 years ago and they're still going strong.
