    No good title for this.

One of my teammates from college, a left/center fielder and leadoff hitter, and a friend of mine was shot and killed by his step brother in Bedford yesterday.

It's been a whirlwind of emotions after hearing he passed and then shortly thereafter finding out how. I went onto Bedford PD's facebook and found an article that very objectively and vaguely describes what happened... Man shot by homeowner after trying to enter a house through a window.

I look at the comments...which maybe I should not have done...but there are a few comments, most of which are from just folks reading what happened. Of course, we're all Texans and we all believe in the 2nd amendment. And if I don't know the guy who is killed in this, and if I don't know it's from his own step brother, I'm sure I'm right there saying the same things. But to know more than the average Joe...it really hurts that this instance is being used to promote a political agenda. I don't know what happened, but I feel strongly he was not doing anything with mal-intent.

I don't know what happened, and I don't even know enough to speculate. At the end of the day, my friend was shot and killed by his step brother a week before Thanksgiving. I can't imagine what the family is going through, and I can't imagine what it's like for his 2 year old son. Sad day. Please keep the entire family in your prayers... RIP Jared. You will be missed dearly, but remembered by me as being one of the nicest, funniest guys I've met, and for being an accepting, good person.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Hard to wrap your mind around the circumstances that would lead to that outcome. Prayers up!

So sorry for your loss. I’ve been in the police business for 26 years and domestic situations are almost always the most senseless and bizarre. Prayers for the family

Sorry for the loss of your buddy.

Its the media. Headlines are supposed to sell. Even when given most of the facts they will spin the story
