Bumping this thread for a follow up question. I have found a litter/line I like and have visited and interacted with them. There are a couple I like, one of which tends to be the out-going of the bunch but also appears to be the alpha (female) of the group and shows her dominance to the others. Any experiences or input on what traits and/or behavioral trends the dominant/alpha pup of the litter shows over time?

Have no idea if there is any truth to this or not but growing up my uncle always had phenomenal hunting dogs and he said his trick to picking a good pup was he would show up and pick each available puppy up to eye level and look them in the face. Whichever pup would look back at him the longest was the one he was taking home.

I would like to brag on my handsome grand dog Ruger. Charcoal Lab
Just about 2 years old and 100lbs of solid. Has that big English head.
Good with finding antlers, loves the water, upland birds and long walks on the beach. I am really digging this breed.

English lab 100% if it will spend time in the house with family. My boy Waylon is the best behaved & trainable dog I've ever had & is a duck retrieving workhorse.
