It's been pretty slow for us in western San Saba so far, I would imagine the same for the area you are talking about. That big ol moon ain't helping things either. Most activity seems to be right at daylight or just before dark. Best of luck my friend, sure beats sitting on the couch. Plus the rut is about to kick off for real.
Lease in brownwood is LOADED with acorns. Not sure if that area got sustained high winds the other day like we did at home but that should have knocked a lot of them down. I have found that deer seem to prefer fresh fallen acorns. Not so much after they have been on the ground a while.
north of Mason started dropping last month lots of acorns but not as bad as bow season. Deer movement is average to below average at feeders. Lots of deer moving around though. Brownwood lease still lots of acorns on the trees. Feeder activity has slowed down. May be rut activity. May be acorns. Who knows.
I hunt in that area. Last weekend the acorns were still strong and very heavy, been like that for a while. Post Oaks and white oaks dropping at the same time. Like walking on bubble wrap. Corn stacking up. Only young deer coming to corn at night with the full moon it makes it real tough. I don’t see any changes until we get more freezing rain and the new moon phase in about 10 days.
