Do you fletch your own arrows?

I'm considering buy a fletching jib and I was wondering who on here does their own and how difficult it is? It seems I spend quite a bit in refletching at the shop!

I have been doing it for a couple of years now. Its simple to fletch them yourself. Get a Bitzenburger jig!! They are the best fletching jigs out there.

      Yes...do it yourself!!!!

If I don't like feathers at the time, I strip and go to veins. If I get tired of veins I go to feathers. If I want to replace a vein or a feather...I do it myself.

So its easy as following instructions? Do you do it one at a time or are the 3 easier?

Do you shoot feathers or vanes? If feathers go with a clamp type jig and like Hog Hunter said the Bitz is the best. If you shoot vanes I'd get an Arizona EZ fletcher. They do a great job and they fit in a tackle box for on the road arrow repair.

As far as being difficult not at all but there are some techniques you'll learn as you go.

I dont, but since I recently got charged 4 dollars an arrow to refletch with my own blazers I think I'll invest in one and learn to do it myself.

Yep, I just got the Bitz and like it. You may have to experiment a little to get it right but once you do there will be a new found sense of accomplishment.

I like the idea of the arizone being it can travel. It say asks about a 1 degree or a 4 degree. Which is preferred. i shoot 2" bohing vaness and have no clue which is better.

Brad- I feel the 4 bucks man. Thats why I'm investing

Everyone else- Thanks guys. You sure can help out some of us rookies

I've always done my own...saves tons of money! I use the Arizona fletcher for feathers and vanes. It's very simple!

Bohning recommends a 4 degree or helical for the Blazer vane. I use a right helical for my Blazers.

I think Cotton is right on with his advice. I've been using the EZ fletcher with 2" blazers and fast set glue with very good results. It only take about a minute per arrow and if you didn't like the color combo just scrape it off and do it again. The best tip I can give you is don't use too much glue. It's amazing how little glue you really need for a good bond. Also, if you cut your own arrows be sure to clean the inside of the shaft before you glue in your insert. I lost count of how many points and inserts my block target ate before I started cleaning the shaft.
