      Great article. Of course the "renewable energy"movement now has so much momentum, so much political clout and so many powerful vested interests there is no stopping it. It is very similar to the ethanol boondoggle. That program is widely know to be a gigantic government subsidized waste with no economic merit but it is a monster that cannot be killed.

        I’ve been up many towers and I never saw 45 tons worth of plastic. I call BS and that plastic number...

          According to another article I read on the subject the it's the blades that contain a lot of plastic:

          Wind turbine blades are made from light-weight plastic composite materials, which are voluminous and impossible to recycle. One 60 m long fiberglass blade weighs 17 tonnes, meaning that a 5 MW wind turbine produces more than 50 tonnes of plastic composite waste from the blades alone. Because of the limited options for recycling and re-use, windmill blades are usually landfilled (in the US) or incinerated (in the EU). In 2020 Germany,Spain and Denmark will have to dispose of about 20,000 turbine blades
