    Any CNC Machinists/Techs on here?

Have a Mori Seiki SL-20 lathe. When I try to start up I'll get a 280 alarm "Machine Unready" or a 451 Alarm "Spindle Unit Alarm". Anyone have any ideas on a rememdy? Fanuc control. If I can figure it out I'll have to run a manual lathe, which makes this a dire emergency. It's like going from a Corvette to a Festiva.

What control? My OiT and 21i books dont show either alarm.

If you can, open the electrical cabinet in the back of the machine. The drives/amps should be there. Normally the red led displays will all be zeros ( probably a main one, one for the spindle, and one for each axis-maybe one for both axes ) Are any of them showing anything other than 0? ( machine must be on to check this ) The number it shows will tell you what the issue is if its in the drive or spindle motor. Unless you are experienced in this stuff, it is unlikely it will be repaired without someone that knows what they are doing.

Yasnac. Sorry. The other is a Fanuc.

One of them has a larger display, it says "-ican".

The only time I have seen "Machine Not Ready" it needed to be homed including clamping the chuck. We have one that the turret needs to be homed also.

Chuck is clamped. It's won't even let me get to the homing part. Does it immediately on startup

I have a doctor appointment this afternoon, but I can run up and take a look tomorrow after work. Just let me know.

Did a little searching last night. Not a whole lot of info out there if you dont have the books. The ican alarm apparently is saying there is an issue with the spindle parameters. Could be a host of issues that cause it.

Here is a link that discusses the ican alarm on a different machine

when I try and power on my tree, the delta 20d tells me "motor overload" -note: this is at power up. the motor is not actually being asked to do anything at all. in the past I have been able to get past this by pressing the error reset on the drive, by and/or turning the power off/on...

Btw, I dont know anything about it. Just what I have found.
