While on another hunting forum I ran across a Stag hunt that was very reasonably priced. Showed it to wife cause it was on Top of her bucket list. She said hell yea I want to go. So I made arrangements. We headed out on Monday stayed in San Antonio next morning we headed down to Corpus Christi. We arrived around noon The hunt started Immediately. I had 2.5 days planned for this hunt. It was over in an 1.5 hours The wife made a hell of a shot on a big Red Stag 205 yards. She shoots a 7mm-08 140 grain bullet. Custom made at Alamo Precision.
After the hunt was over and pictures were taken. I made a call to the outfitter. Told him I was looking for a Chocolate Fallow hunt. He hooked with a guy in Hondo. Unfortunately it was not what it was made up to be. Those poor animals were so spooky. We drove around all day and finally saw the Chocolate Fallow that we looked for all day and he was busted on the left side. So I didn't shoot. Talked to the guide and told him what my I was looking for. It told me of a place in Ingram called Texas Hunt Lodge. So I made a call at 6:30 pm and booked a hunt with them for the following day. We loaded up drove to Kerrville to spend the night.
The next morning (Thursday) we met up had breakfast and signed our releases and went out. I told the wife on the way to the hunting pasture with the guide I was upgrading. We saw numerous Trophy Class animals on my hunt. Unfortunately the Chocolate Fallow was not mature enough from what the guide told us. So he put me on a spotted fallow. Shot was taken and I had a Hungarian Spotted Fallow on the ground.
Many Kiddos to Texas Hunt Lodge in Ingram Texas for booking this last minute hunt.
