So I shot this bucks opening morning and wasn’t able to find him. Well on my way to get my wife from her stand I made a loop around and walked up on him. Kind of a bittersweet morning. I called the GW to find out if I needed to tag him and if anyone was wondering in order to keep the head u have to lol.

Glad you found him and got the rack. Not sure that GW is correct. The tag stays with the meat not the horns. Seems like an odd requirement and a waste of a tag. IMO

The way he explained it to me. Is that if u plan on keeping the head and you know it’s the buck you shot you legally have to tag it to have possession. Just wanted to ask a GW what to do so I’m not trying to explain why I have head with no tag.

I would not tag. Just me. I found a dandy 10 point on my Ranch that was gut shot by someone and took it to my Taxi. Told him what I have, took some pics and we were good. Did a Dignity Euro mount.
