This morning was my son's first deer hunt after killing his first hog last weekend. Three does came out at 7:35am eating some sweet feed that I had put on the ground. One was a huge doe and I was going to let him shoot her as soon as she cleared the others and turned broadside. I'm glad she didn't because within a couple minutes this buck came in with a purpose and chased the group off. One circled back and he followed. They took off through the woods again before he could get on him. Within a few seconds the buck came back through looking for the other does and Caleb was ready. He busted him with his 30-30 and he only made it about 30 yds. He is a 7pt that measured 18 5/8" inside spread. I have never seen him on camera. We have been praising God this morning for such an amazing hunt. It was great spending that time with my son and seeing him so excited.

Good stuff. I love seeing this. Well done.
Big congrats to him on his first buck. Can't go wrong with a big ole 7 like that.
I'll never forgot my first buck and hunting with my dad. They are special memories for sure, that mean the world to me now more than ever.
There is just something special about spending time out in God's creation.
