This dude knows what he is talking about, or at least, I have experienced the exact same.

      Is it roughly 3k acres?

Watching Renfro really was an eye-opener.

I’m not sure where we (Scrappin’) rank as far as hunting leases, but I’m pretty proud of what we’ve done in now our fifth year. We’ve got a quality core group of members that are committed to build a special place. I’m sure all new places have some turnover with members.

The double drop 12 is back on the corn pile ! I think he’ll be high 60s ! He must have ran off that young 150” ten.

I’d rank it way up there on the list. I was on the waiting list and reluctantly turned down the chance to get on a few years ago when the oil field was down. I’ve seen a ton of video and know several members on SV. It’s definitely worth the lease dues, the camp area is nice, lake is full of fish, and you’re not far from The Stump lol.

When I said it wasn’t close to #1 I meant it’s not a lease that kicks out a 170-180 just about every year. The place I mentioned in Trinity Co was doing exactly that until they lost several up and comers. The place in Marshall is a very large all native HF place that will produce a 200”er or very close every year. They keep it quiet and don’t post on social media platforms. I also can’t remember the last time they added a member.

Back in the day I work for Temple Inland and helped guide on SV and Boggy Slough (just north west of Lufkin). They were both well managed properties. I have seen some studs come off of both places. SV use to have a lot of exotics on it as well. I have a lake house at Six Mile and drive by it a lot. Looks like they have logged it pretty hard over the years. Also have seen where it was for sale not to long ago.

Back in the day Kickapoo Creek Hunting Club was a really good one. Not sure if they are still around or not.

Lazy M Ranch is another one if you're lucky enough to get on it

Who told you about the double drop?

Brushy Creek, Scrappin Valley, Boggy Slough, Pine Island, Hayter, Panther Creek. Those all fit the bill for what you are looking for. Some high fence and some low fence, and most are very difficult to get on to unless you know somebody important
