    Pre Rut is on

Man on man, things change in a hurry.
Climbed up in my tree this morning, watched a few bucks sparring, another making a scrape and snort wheezing, then they all took off chasing a doe all around the woods. My Big 8 didn't show, I was disappointed.
Around 5:30 tonight I look out my window before getting ready to go for an evening set and see a doe running. Well there is my big 8, he has her cornered and then proceeds to herd her around and the chase is on. Never seen him that early before definitely has the girls on his mind already. So much for the early season pattern.

It's on in Mills county but mostly young bucks. Still two to three weeks away for the big rut, where bigger bucks become really stupid. JMO!

The does aint hitting the feeder here for the past couple days. There is a buck or two harrassing them and it has changed their pattern. Not sure if Id call it the rut...but...the number of tree scrapes have increased locally.

Yep. Seen 2 locked down today. After nearly 2 hours one doe made a break and a Lexus took her out. 21 days from now will be November 13.... the 9-14 have been peak activity in my area since I’ve been keeping record.

If you want your chance before gun season, and willing to do what others ain’t. Now is as good a time as it gets in my area. After next 2 days it will be a ghost town for awhile. I feel this weekend will be too late in my area.

I have a pic from one of my trail cams here in Hays County with a spike breeding a doe on 10/12/2019. The preceding 8 photos show him with his nose down and trailing her around the feeder a couple of times before he gets her mounted.

Their pattern is over it seems. Only buck that came today was the 9 that always comes, (too narrow)no little bucks, no big bucks and only a couple does.

Yep, nothing in Daylight since last weekend. Some bucks are coming in but before daylight and right at dark. Happens every year and sucks. Lol

Saw 2 bucks working a group of 5 doe like a pair of blue healers just an hour ago. They chased them all over that field. Still there when I backed off

Where I wanted/tried to set daughter new ground blind.... but the rhino 200 is such an impossible pile of $&&% it broke after an hour and working to exhaustion to set up. Lord knows I hate ground blinds with every fiber of my being. Junk
