    Scope recommendations- .44 mag

I just ordered a Ruger Super Red Hawk in .44 magnum that I’m planning on hunting with on occasion. Does anyone have a recommendation on scope mounts, scope and ammo? Thanks!

I have a S&W performance center 44 that I bought earlier this year. I ended up putting a Burris 2-7x32mm on it. Only had it out a few times, but has worked great so far. Field of view at the higher power is very tight. If I were to do it over again, I'd probably get a straight 2x scope.

The Super Redhawk has an integrated base and should come with rings. I'm planning to use Hornady 240gr XTP ammo.

I have had this on my 41mag for about 10+ years now. Never a problem holding zero and it's been shot a few hunnert times. https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Classi.../dp/B0000V2EDU

I don’t have a lot of handgun hunting experience but i did settle on a fixed 2x scope over a variable and a red dot. At the distances I was shooting I liked the red dot best but never found a
Reliable one for what I was willing to spend. Pretty sure the scope I had was a Simmons and it held up to a 30-30 contender and the recoil was harsh with that gun.

Pretty much any “hunting” ammo will work in the 44 mag. With a 14” contender and handi-rifle I mostly used the Hornady lever evolution ammo.

I have just the thing for you. I am running a Burris on my 460 and want to swap to a red dot. Just dont do the distance to need a scope for my pistol hunting style.

I have a matchdot ultra dot on mine. I bought the gun used, it came with a 2x leupold. I prefer the red dot.

I’ve got a 2x Vxiii on my 629 classic hunter, it works great and will handle the heaviest of loads (300 grain XTP’s). Great fit for a .44 rig.

I mounted a Trijicon RMR on my Ruger Super Blackhawk and love it as I am not shooting past about 75 yards. I will tell you that I did have problems mounting the base so that the recoil would not loosen it. I had to go to some longer threaded screws and the Red Threadlocker to get it to hold.
