Bob...you ever eat at Old 300 in Blanco? Thoughts?
I am no BoB , but have eaten here some, it’s pretty good on taste
And sides, that being said I cannot stand the owner
He has been drunk off his a** a bunch and said some mighty rude stuff to a bunch of people, I would rather skip 300 to drive out of my way
Over to Opie’s , some times it’s not the bbq that leaves a bad taste in your mouth

I've been to all these and more Central Texas joints, multiple times. I recently had the extra moist brisket at Hays County BBQ in San Marcos and it was the best I ever had.
I'm a fan of the east Texas Que. Really like Country Tavern's ribs and potato casserole. Stanley's in Tyler for brisket, also really like Stanley's Cadillac Clucker sandwich. Since relocating to DFW I've been to a couple good spots, my favorite is probably Heim BBQ on Magnolia but you end up paying those hipster prices. Been to Hard 8 several times trying to force myself to like it but just haven't been able to get hooked.

I agree Heim is good as is Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum. Both are pricey, but good BBQ. My favorite in DFW is Cattlelack is Addison off Gamma Rd. I live a mile from Hard 8 in Roanoke and haven't been there is 2 years, just not a fan.

If you have to try to like a BBQ joint, it ain't worth it. The joint either has it, or it doesn't.
Since you're in Roanoke, ease on up to 407 BBQ. @ 35 & 407, SE corner, by Defender Outdoors. It has it.
