Hey BOB, if I recall in your earlier comments you mentioned "BBQ is not about the sides", however you clearly state here that "In deep East Texas they serve baked beans with bbq"! Then you later continue to ramble on about that it's ok to have sides like beans, white bread, pickles, onions, jalapenos, cheese etc. You also quoted "that you like the Fried okra", yet it's not about the sides. So at the end of the day, what it is Bob?

I probably replied to 5% of the posts on here.

Pile on BoB. It's fine I can handle it. I'm not a whiney little ***** like y'all.

I know the thread title is TX bbq, but Mud Creek BBQ in Ringling, Oklahoma is great. Didn’t say the best. It’s just plain delicious. Main thing I like there is chopped brisket and bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers along with the sweet tea.

I'll only go to places that cook their brisket in the oven. Smoke ruins the taste of the beef.

RE Baked Beans: Always grew up eating them with bbq and burgers because it was my dads favorite. If I'm throwing BBQ get together we will have the following...

                            Brisket
                            Baby Back Ribs
                            Pork Arse
Chicken halves or beer can chicken
About 6' of Southside beef sausage
                            Jalapeno Poppers
                            Baked Beans
                            Mustard Potato Salad
                            Corn on the cob
                            Mac and Cheese

To us BBQ is about what you like and what your friends like.

If you are going to be one of those sissies that needs smoke to cover up the good stuff, East Texas and Michigan have the best BBQ. Hands down.
