    FIXED or MECHANICAL FOR HOGS/JAVELINA

I never hunted hogs before and I have read that they are tough.

I have shot 4 deer and one black bear with mechanical and one doe with a fixed BH.

I like the Trophy Ridge Rocket since it nice and compact but not sure if I should use my Montec for Hog.

What about Javelina fixe of mechanical

    Thanks

I would use what I'm comfortable shooting.
I shoot slick trick and shuttle t lock.
Tried the rage 2 blade and they are just too much hastle. I wanted the large wound channel too!
They work well when your not tinkering with them to make the blades stay behind the O-ring in colder weather or roll pins falling out after one use.
But I do believe rage has tackled the pin issue with installing stainless solid pins now.

Shot what works on other game. I shot flided blade on everything. Two blade STOS, Magnus, and ACE 145 - 160 grain heads, have all been through pigs. Just put a Snuffer 160 grain through a 200-250 pound sow, and was very impressed with the blood trail, entry and exit wound. I just like cut on impact heads.

Shot a Javelina with a rage last year. Went about 15 yards.

Like was stated in a post above, shoot what you have confidence in and put it where it counts and you will be fine.

Shoot what you like shooting. If you killed a bear with a mech, I wouldnt worry about a pig!

I'm not much on mechanical blades but have had good experiences with Slick Tricks fixed blades.

They'll work on hogs, they'll work on large African animals. Gerhard has some really great LDPs.

X2- Shoot what you have confidence in...IMO having confidence in your equipment is more important than the equipment itself... The only time I would not use a mechanical is if you were using a large cutting jacknife style (ie. vortex) with low KE (less than 55lbs)....

I LOVE 3 blade muzzys in 100grain. Some ranches wont allow mechanicals. As far as mechanicales go I am fixin to get me some rages to shoot just cause I hear great things about them!

Thanks I guess it will depend on the ranch I go to.

After two bad experiences with Rages, I stick with my old school 100gr. Thunderheads. Like was said before, don't change your set-up if you are confident in it. As long as your head is sharp, it should do the job on just about anything.
