    Hunting Ibex in Asia

    Hey guys,
A buddy and I are in the early stages of planning an ibex hunt for next fall. I was wondering if anyone on here had chased ibex in Asia? What consultant/outfitter did you use? Would you hunt with them again? We are trying to decide which area to hunt, the “stans” or Mongolia. Any first hand advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Following sir!!! I have not been but on the list. Bow or rifle? The stans are definitely beast mode in quality and numbers.

      Hey Oscar,
This flat lander from Mississippi is gonna bring the boom stick. I’ll be lucky to get within rifle range ha ha. From my research it seems the mid Asian ibex in the “stans” grow a little larger than the ibex in Mongolia. But you’ve got the option to hunt alti ibex, gobi ibex, and the gazelle in Mongolia, so we just trying to decide on the best bang for our buck.

I went to Kyrgyzstan in October 2018 with two friends. We booked with an outfitter through GS Safaris. We flew into Bishkek for the trip. The hunting was great. When I do it again I’ll buy two tags. I’ll use a rifle on the first ibex then bowhunt the remainder of the 7 days. We all three tagged out on the first day in the field.

If you want more details please PM me.

I’ll post up later tonight. Shot mine in Kyrgyzstan but I would hunt Kazakhstan right now.

I hunted Ibex in 2013 with outfitter Arjun Reddy. My hunting partner and I both shot great Ibex early in the hunt on the Chinese border of Kyrgyzstan. We both pulled triggers around 13-14k in elevation after an unbelievable horse back ride through the snow in a full moon. It’s one of the coolest experiences I’ve had and it was worth every penny. We also saw Marco Polo on that trip - which was a lifetime goal.

My hunt story was published in Texas Sporting Journal but I’ll post up my full hunting report tomorrow. After the Ibex hunt we headed to hunt Roe deer at the far northern Border and that offered an entirely different experience. Went from -20F and waist high snow to beautiful weather in the Kazak foothills.

The reason I say I would hunt Kazakhstan right now is Kyrgyzstan hunting is in flux and it seems Kazak is pretty solid right now. They also have world class Roe deer and Maral hunting. There was a group from NZ that left our first day and they hit a blizzard in early Oct and shot some fairly Small Ibex.

If you are rifle hunting practice long range. My shot was 220 but my partners was 550 if memory servers me right. We spent every weekend that summer shooting out to 500 yards.

Right now I have a 2 year old and a baby girl OTW so my priorities shifted, but the next big hunt I will do will be A Tur hunt.

That is really good to hear. I had a couple of friends that just got back and about 1/2 the group was successful. I’ll take the specifics...

Kyrgyzstan and they booked through Captivate. They just got back about a month ago.
