Early rut action?

Saw a Milam County buck have a doe locked up this morning in the middle of one of are turf farms. Usually see the peak rut right before thanksgiving

I was out tonight and the does were frisky running all over the place. The young bucks joined in just to join in. Big boys were just doing their routine...cautious, then have a bite to eat right before dark.

Way too early in Wilson county, I been hunting fairly hard and we got another month. Maybe longer. Early December is about the best, but sometimes the weather changes things. A few years ago in January I passed up a buck that had his tongue hanging out from chasin.

We have about 3 more weeks before ours gets going good up in Houston County.

Does cycle every month. The rut is the same every year. Why do we have to debate this every year? The weather does dictate how much 'rut' activity you see. Seems like this should be it's own permanent thread...........

Not unusual at all for coastal areas. The rut is always ahead of inland counties for whatever reason. I'm sure there's some science behind it.

The theory I’ve heard is that this way fawns can be born well before hurricane season and avoid being a casualty of a storm. Makes sense anyway.

Look up avery island whitetail. These are what were restocked in the coastal counties after the screwworms wiped out the deer. They breed earlier than other subspecies.

Last weekend bucks were nosing all the does but the girls were having none of it yet. This was Victoria Co. this weekend should be good with the cooler weather and moon.
