    Xbow on a bow target?

Just got my first crossbow. Been shooting a compound for years. Just got this for my dad to tag along in October.

I have a Block brand target. Love it. Takes broadheads and fieldpoints like a champ!

Question is do you think it can take a few xbow bolts too? Just to make sure the scope is on. Probably shoot 1 or 2 broadheads to make sure on those as well.

Don’t plan to repeatedly shoot the xbow into it week after week...

    It should work fine.

      It’s going to go deep.

We have about a half dozen different archery targets at the ranch but bought a specialty bag for shooting the crossbows.

Asl long as it’s in decent shape it should work. You’ll start blowing through them eventually especially if it’s been shot with broadheads quite a bit

I have a crossbow block Target and it still buries up to the vanes, when I tried it on my regular bow Target the vanes went into the target and ruint them.

I did the same. I buried a broad head and ruined the bolt getting it out.

I think it depends on how powerful the crossbow is, Morrell has crossbow targets that state what velocity they can handle. Some of the newest crossbows are close to 500fps now.

It is all about the speed those arrows are coming out of your crossbow. I shoot a Wicked Ridge Invader. Arrow speed is around 325 fps. About any old target will work - velocity is too close to that if the fastest compounds.

My son brought home a crossbow shooting about 100 fps faster and a target rated for about 350 fps. His arrows were buried to the knocks at times, but again, wrong target. Huge pain in the butt too as we then had to pull the broad heads off and shove the arrow back thru to try and conserve the fletching.

He bought a much better (and more costly) target this year and if was like night & day. No problems.

i have the "rag bag" target and it stops them much better than the block my dad has.

I was in the same boat as you and it stops the bolts but they burry so deep it messes the fletching up. I'd spend $25 and get a specialty bag designed for crossbows, that's what I did and it works great.

We had a block brand at the camp and a guy brought his crossbow to hunt... His first practice shot went straight thru and bolt went off into the wild blue yonder never to be seen again...
When I got my wife a crossbow, I got a Reinhardt block. It works like a champ, even with broadheads.

Alright.. so I’ll get a xbow bag! Haha

Next question is a lot of these bags are just field point bags. Most of you xbow guys feel any need to shoot broadheads? Do BHs fly like FPs most of the time?

I just got a block 6x6 and it stops them pretty good even with broadheads. I like the extra layer of foam and the fact that the open layers are held tight by the foam all around them
