Do deer in the Newton county area typically have a second rut around Christmas? I know in Brazoria county there is usually a second run around that time. Not sure about the Newton area

Yes usually it starts around the 2nd week of Dec and it is dictated by the 1st year does that are cycling for the 1st time. It can be just as hectic as the first if you can catch it right.

Wow!! What a deer!! Newton co producing some studs.

We have killed a 142, 139, 133, 114 & 107. All 5 or older. I’ll try and post pics if I can. Nothing too impressive. Still a year or two off from your caliber of deer.
