My brother in law shot an axis down between Freer and Hebbronvile one June about 10-12 years ago. The buck ran off in the brush and while we were trailing him I had one hit me about 1/2 way up on my right calf. I had my chips on and after I shook the shat out of my pants leg, I checked to make sure all was well and that's when I saw the two healthy streams of venom running down the back of my leg

Thing hit a lot harder that I thought it would. It also never rattled until after it struck and recoiled

So the snakes fangs went thru the boots, just not into your skin?

Mine save me every time I go out. My son got hit at the King Ranch and the bruise on his leg was big as a softball!

No sir.....I see where you would get that. Apologies for bad wording. The 2 trails of venom were running down the back of the boot

Twice last season, once in mexico, and one in Texas. Had to kick both them off. Good to wear boots. One latched onto the toe in the day time. One at night hit the side of the boot and was flopping around on top of boot. Kicked towards the ran h house and heard it bounce off the wall. Grabbed a light and shot gun and shot it.

I was mowing the outside of my fence with a a Brush mower, saw something moving and it was about an 18 inch rattler. I don’t think it struck at me but I didn’t give it a chance after I saw it and proceeded to stomp the crap out of it with my Chips. The next time I mowed there, I had my chaps on as well as the Chips.

Heard Jimmy Rutledge state biologist got hit recently in S Tx. Supposedly rattler hit him aboiut 4” below knee & just above snake boots. Said they gave him 10 viles of anti venom.

I use to coon hunt in the most snake infested swamp in east Texas when I was younger. Snake boots saved me three times that I know of. Probably twice that many because we walked a lot of palm meadows that you could not see from the waist down. Dogs got bit often.
