From a nice 8 pt. to a "slick head"............

Just came across these pics again and thought i would share the story & pics. These pics are from two seasons ago. One of our lease members shot this nice 8 and when he was walking up to it he found a nice 8 pt. shed, so he thought. When he walked up to his 8 he noticed that the shed he had just found was from his 8 he had just shot. There were a few cuss words i'm sure but i'm sure there were even more when he grab the antler that was left on the deers head and started to drag him to the truck and that antler came off! Anybody have this happen to them?

I had a hunter last year on a Wounder Warrior hunt shoot a 32" axis and his fell off when he hit the ground.

Yep, had the same thing happen about 12 yr ago. And btw, am finding sheds already this year. Just a week or two earlier than normal. Might have something to do with the exceptionally dry year.

That's pretty awesome... that deer was like 3 hours away from being safe for another year... haha

yep they are shedding early around here as well. Its dry as hell! About to head to the ranch and take a big compressor and fill my tank that is 40 yards from my feeder. Its about dry.

i have heard of it happening in late season in the midwest, but never heard of it here in TX. Was that deer destined for his wall when he pulled the trigger? If not no big deal, but the curse words confirm the desire for bone more than meat or whatever else...

My uncle shot a 150 class 10 point in Kansas last year and when he found the deer both antlers laid right next to the deer.............

I took my younger cousin out last season during early January to shoot a doe at the lease. He shot what we thought to be a doe, it ended up being a young buck who had already shed. I was a little upset at myself for telling him to pull the trigger. Mistakes happen

Have only had that happen once... a large pine tree that he ran into was the cause of the problem.
