    Texas Lifetime Hunting License??

    Hey fellas,

I am about to pull the trigger on the Texas Lifetime Hunting License($1000). However does anyone know if I change my residence to another state after I obtain the license will it retain it? I still have a Texas Residencey however I have moved to the Rockies quite sometime ago and am long over due to change.

I visit family in Texas quite frequent an d still hunt a lot there. Just curious before I pull the trigger that this "Lifetime Hunting License" will secure my cost at that one time $1000 while still allowing me to get my residence here in the Rockies to bypass the nonresident elk tag cost.

    Any info is appreciated!

It was two years ago when I got mine. Might be more now.

$1800 is for Hunting & Fishing. If you just need Hunting, last I looked it was about $1000.

It's $1800 if your getting lifetime Hunting & Fishing, but on $1000 for lifetime hunting.

Yep, I mainly fly fish now. Never really got into the fishing in texas even being born and raised there. Just the hunting license is what I need.

              Thanks for the info!!

I would get one in every state I live. If you enjoy hunting out west each state has a unique benefit to a lifetime license if you move out. Arizona being the best.

I’ve got Louisiana and Texas lifetime, and I’m about to change to Florida and get one there too.

The only missing puzzle piece is Colorado, but they don’t play by the same rules.

I currently live in Colorado, about to move to Wyoming. I would just avoid Colorado like a plague to be honest. It's getting less and less desirable to live here by the day. If you are a hunter, moderate, conservative, veteran, police or even mention the name Trump you are the anti-christ himself. The aggressive liberal agenda has decimated this state. I always tell my dad when he calls to ask me how it's going in Colorado.

I always respond "prettiest state with the ugliest people".

Anything on the I25 corridor is full of some of the most passive aggressive malicious spiteful people you will ever encounter. They will snitch and report you for anything they don't agree with. Publicly shame anyone on social media and want their blood for even the most minor offense. As well as the most irate aggressive drivers. Yet one thing they all have in common, none will ever confront you, look you dead in the eye or say it to your face. The lack of spine in Colorado's culture is shocking.

Your good if you get it before you move. If I were to ever leave Texas, you bet I'll be buying the lifetime before I go!

Once you have the Texas lifetime, it is good in Texas forever. No other fees. The lifetime also covers any new stamps or endorsements added at later dates. All covers except the sandhill crain permit, trappers license, ect.

Got mine today, super simple process. I think it will be well worth it,simply since I never plan on moving back. Sorry I have to have my Rocky Mountains! Lol

As a note, you have to go to one of the actual TPWD Offices. Can’t just get it at any place that does hunting licenses.

                              Thanks for the help!
