    Help with Hot Flashes

Non bow hunting related but mom is dealing with constant Hot Flashes and after 12 months of them nothing is helping out. Any chance someone has found something to tame them at all?

    Thanks

My wife has had them bad for a period of time at a younger age than most as she is only 50. She takes Tamoxifen daily and hot flashes are a known side effect. She has determined that in her case, sugar is the main culprit every time. Either she eats something or has a margarita and that will do it most every time, sometimes it happens quick and other times it might be 30-60 minutes later.

2 tablespoon of ground flax in 8 oz. of orange juice has helped with hot flashes. Flashes are result of tamoxifen.

My wife can't have HRT due to Breast Cancer so that is out. We have seen a lot of women that are just not about HRT at all due to all the cancer scares. A lot of our lady friends are just not wanting to take the chance or don't want to acknowledge the issues outside of the hot flashes.

A lady I work with went on keto to lose weight and said that all her hot flashes stopped. No sugar, low carbs.

First, sorry about your mother's hot flashes! I can sympathize because I get them after my hormone shot to combat prostate cancer. Hot flashes are not fun. How old is she? Going through menopause? All, or most, women get hot flashes when going through menopause. It is a normal thing.

Second, we have now seen it all on TBH! A thread from a son asking about his mom's hot flashes!

I read a news story the other day that hot flashes are also linked to cardio issues and early onset cognitive issues as well.

Definitely need to go see a DR.

Hot flashes are common for menopause, some get them bad for a long time some not too bad. A hysterectomy will throw a woman into hot flashes pretty bad sometimes. Wild Yam cream is a good natural cream to put on the back of the knees or on the belly to reduce flashes.

                        Appreciate the helps folks.

Shes in her 50's and this is a side effect from some medication if I remember correctly. Shes in good shape, eats healthy and walks a couple miles daily.

Just wanting to do whatever I can to help and see if any suggestions are something she hasn't heard of before.

My wife avoided it for too long based on those same fears. Lack of sleep, loss of hair and hot flashes finally pushed her to research it and consult with another doctor. Her quality of life has improved tremendously.

I’m no Doc but in her 50’s it’s likely not the result of a medication. That’s the age this normally hits women along with other changes.
